EMBASSY ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE PRESS REPORTS CONCERNING THE NATIONAL POLICE SPOKESMAN’S ALLEGED STATEMENT THAT A KEY BOMB SUSPECT HAS FLED TO TURKEY
The press has reported that national police spokesman
Police Lieutenant General Prawut Thavornsiri stated yesterday that a key
suspect in the Erawan Shrine bomb attack has fled to Turkey. In one of the
reports it is mentioned that the police spokesman has said “The Turkish Embassy and Thai authorities have been cooperating to
gather information about Mr. Ishan.”
Up to now this Embassy has not been contacted by Thai
authorities in this respect and we do not have information concerning the
investigation.
Today this Embassy delivered a Note Verbale to the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, asking whether such a
statement was made by the national police spokesman. In the said Note it is
mentioned that the official reply of the Kingdom of Thailand will be conveyed
to the authorities of the Republic of Turkey.
